About Telehealth

Check your hearing from home with telehealth

Telehealth, which is also called teleaudiology, means you can still have an appointment with a hearing care professional from the comfort of your home, without travelling anywhere.

Telehealth appointments are a convenient option if you prefer the convenience and privacy of a home-based appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do telehealth appointments work?

A telehealth appointment is simply a phone or video call with a hearing care professional. The appointment covers exactly the same aspects as if you were meeting face-to-face. You’ll get the same care that you’d expect to receive at a hearing clinic, but in the comfort and privacy of your home.

If you’re registered with the federal government’s Hearing Service Program, or if you’re receiving support under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), you can also access some services through telehealth.

What are the benefits of a telehealth appointment?

Our teleaudiology appointments:

  • Are convenient, allowing you to book an appointment at a day and time that suits you best.
  • Let you talk directly to a hearing care professional in your own home, keeping you connected to them through ongoing check-ups.
  • Cut costs by eliminating costs associated with travel – there’s no need to pay for petrol or parking.
  • Allow you to stay safe in your own home if you need to stay physically isolated.
  • Mean there’s no need to take time off work. If a family member would like to attend the appointment or if they normally accompany you to an appointment, they won’t need to take as much time off work either.
  • Give you direct access to a large range of hearing care services.
What do telehealth consultations include?

We offer three main services under our telehealth consultations:

  1. Phone and video appointments
You can talk with your hearing care professional about any concerns.
  2. Remote adjustments
Your hearing professional may be able to make changes to your selected hearing aid devices in real time for you. These appointments are limited to certain hearing aid models and these services require you to have a smart phone and a good internet connection.
  3. Online store or phone requests
This is a convenient option if you need essentials such as batteries.
Will anyone else have access to the video?

Your privacy is paramount, so we use secure technology for all our telehealth appointments.

The hearing care professional will be in a private room, making the appointment as private as a face-to-face appointment in a clinic.

Of course, you can choose to have a family member in the room with you, to have that extra support. In fact we prefer it

How do I book an appointment?

You can request an appointment via an online appointment form or by calling 1300 209 826 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

From there, you can choose whether you want to book in for a face-to-face visit or for a telehealth appointment.

The best option for you will depend on the service you need, whether you’re looking for a hearing test, whether you’re currently using a hearing aid, and what kind of hearing aid you’re using.

If you’re not sure what you need, just give us a call and we’ll help you work out what’s best for you.

What equipment will I need?

All you’ll need is a phone for an audio appointment. If you would like to have a video call, or if you need a remote adjustment to your hearing aid, you will need a smart phone.

When you book your appointment, we’ll confirm whether a smart phone is needed.

How long will the appointment take?

That depends on how much you need to discuss with the hearing professional. When you make your appointment, our team member will discuss this with you.

As with any specialist, the session will take longer if it’s your first appointment. Of course, there will be no travel time.

Are all hearing aids supported in a telehealth consult?

If you already have a hearing aid, our telehealth appointments are limited to certain types of hearing aids. Check if your devices are supported remotely when you make your appointment.
